Acadia Hospital Operator Pool
This is an On-Call Pool position.? Please do not apply if seeking full time or part time only.
The Acadia Access Center seeks individuals with exceptional communication and switchboard, security and registration support within a progressive call center environment. Pool operators with exceptional skills may be trained to transition to available full time positions with the Access Center.
The Acadia Hospital Operator fields all incoming calls for the hospital as well as coordinates communication internally throughout the facility. He/she triages calls appropriately based on the information provided by the caller, and transfers calls to the appropriate departments or individuals within the hospital. He/she provides limited information offered by the Extend and Medicall system, to the public about Acadia programs and other community resources. He/she provides after-hours back up to the Access Center and other Acadia departments including Registration, Utilization Management, Ambulatory Clinic and the Narcotic Treatment Program. The work environment is generally active, with multiple tasks occurring simultaneously, regular exposure to emotionally laden and confidential information. The work setting is an office, hospital and outpatient clinic, with frequent encounters with patients, family members, and staff. Equipment used includes computers, fax machines, telephones, security equipment, alarm systems, and photocopiers.
Mature individual with a minimum of a high school graduate degree or equivalent. Must have demonstrated reception skills including a neat, friendly, and professional demeanor, excellent communication skills in person and via telephone, as well as the ability to organize and manage number of tasks simultaneously. Must have ability to work as a team member with co-workers. Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Cognitive skills include the ability to handle crisis situations immediately with a calm and decisive manner. Must be familiar with switchboard operations and computerized security systems.
